Books, food, and football-need I say more?

What a weekend. My wife Mandira and I both have the week of #Thanksgiving off and we wasted no time in enjoying every second. On Friday (11/22) we saw my friend Bill Schwartz performing his production, The Naked Ventriloquist, at the Main Street Players Theater in Miami Lakes. A phenomenal performance by a uniquely talented guy who we both love dearly.Saturday was spent in Tamarac with my son, daughter-in-law, and my three beautiful grandkids. The weather was perfect for a visit to the park--what a joy it was to spend time with them.

Sunday morning at 9am I was at the Miami #BookFair with a table full of copies of my memoir, Badge, Tie, and Gun. Again, the weather was phenomenal and we soaked in every minute of our region's first cool front. We strolled around the Fair and had some of the best paella I've ever tasted at the food court before heading over to the open market on Flagler and 2nd Avenue, about a 3-minute walk from the fair. At 1pm, I went to #BlackMarketMiami, a great sports bar just a block away from where the market was. My friend David Duckenfield joined me there and we enjoyed a couple of cold beers as we watched our Dolphins win big over the New England Patriots. After we toasted the win with a shot of excellent #mezcal, Mandira and I walked around the incredible Julia and Henry's. To call this place a food court doesn't do it justice. It's three stories of delectable restaurants, bars, and desserts (which take up the entire first floor). A foodie's paradise.

Finally, the train home, so no parking and traffic issues. I can't recall a better weekend. Today (Monday) is a complete "chill" day with nothing planned. The only thing I have done so far today is make coffee, walk the dogs, and write this blog. I can get used to this.
